More About Me...

I'm a 30-something queer wife, activist, volunteer, lover, friend, mother, employee, student, daughter, sister, blogger, podcaster, advice giver, filmmaker, book reader, popcorn partaker. I push paper for a job but I dream of bigger things...

come and take a walk with me...

Tis I. :)

Well, lessee -- February 12th. Sheesh -- is this year flyin' by or what?

What're you folks doing for V-Day? We are doing the cliche dinner and a movie. At least I think we are.

Not quite sure.

I'm realizing that I'm entirely too contented sitting my a$$ at home these days. :)

Anyhoo -- last nite was company volleyball -- my how we suck -- there are a few people on the team who don't entirely suck -- one being the team captain -- though he is not nearly as good as he thinks he is... lol

I get much pleasure watching him mess up -- it certainly knocks him down a few pegs. Or at least it should.

Anyway -- I broke a sweat -- so that's all that matters.

~~~~~~~oOo~~~~~~
Question -- if Packie and I were to put together a podcast show (radio talk show format) what kind of subjects would you want to hear us talk about?
Certainly could use some help here.
FENCE UPDATE: Jess has done some incredible haggling and has gotten a guy to put up our fence for $2,100. Which INCLUDES a few freebies.... How she did it, I have no idea... my baby can shmooze...
I'm utterly impressed. :)
I'm just happy that the whole thing isn't going to completely wipe out our refunds.
Now we just gotta wait for my tax return which HOPEFULLY will be here no later than the 21st or 22nd.... and we'll get started after that... crossing my fingers that nothing fudges that plan.
We may have a painting/staining party at our house once all is said and done.
I've been working on a notification letter to the neighbors (though we've already verbally informed one of them when she had the balls to yell at Jeremie about dog poop -- which by the way -- wasn't even our dogs!)
Anyway, the letter would be done but I want to put in a few lines about the fact that we are also putting up with them and it's not just them us.
They deal with our dog poop, yes, but we deal with their 98,462 outdoor cats (AND their poop), one neighbor's dog who poops all over and our dogs get blamed, Hairy Back Neighbor's gross a$$ in the summers then him driving his motorcycle through our backyard ... stuff like that.
I want to say it... but I can't find a diplomatic way to put that in there.
I'm usually pretty good about weaving words together in instances like this -- so I'm kinda disappointed in myself.
I know what you're thinkin' -- just leave it out and stick to the issue of the fence.
I would, believe me, but these people have "My-Sh!t-Don't-Stink-itis".... and I wanna be the first to let them know this fence going up is not just us shielding them from our "horrible" pooping dogs (imagine!) -- but us shielding ourselves from their bullsh!t.
Thoughts?
Well, I better get to it...
And now... your Moment of Zen:
Proof that Jesus did it before Fonzie
    You know i was driving around, and i realized how many plastic fences are up, white, i bet they are cheaper and easier to maintain. Like hose it down vs painting it. Just a thought.
    Moment of zen, awesome.
    Um... those 'plastic' fences are probably vinyl and MUCH more expensive! :)
    As for the inclusiveness stuff in the letter, I think I'd put:
    Please be aware that this fencing will benefit the surrounding neighbors by providing privacy and the ability to only have to deal with our own yard issues.
    YES! We've gotten quotes on the vinyl and it's ridiculous! Way more.
    It's easy to maintain, but I like the look of wood.
    That looks like "The Buddy Jesus" from the movie Dogma--definitely one of my favorites!!
    Take the high road on the fence letter, it's better for your karma. :)
    Of course, the plastic fences might be more environmentally friendly, what with being made from recycled dinosaurs and all, but still ... go with wood.
    Podcast? Anything - as long as it's wickedly funny and awesomely cool. (No pressure.)
    And for VD? We have kids - no more romance for us. OK, not really that last part, but we always include the kids because the day is supposed to be about the ones we love and not necessarily about that 5 buck Hallmark card, ginormous box of candy and dead flowers that just haven't turned brown yet. We'll probably go out to eat at one of the places we all like.
    Thanks for commenting Jami!
    You were the only one who said anything about the podcast! LOL -- thanks!
    As for VD, TOTALLY agreed. The kids are gonna get something from us too.
    It just depends on what CVS is carrying -- b/c I'm a total last minute shopper. LOL
